Tried again today with much better success, which I attribute to A) having sketched out my linework before breaking out the paints and B) smiling (though I managed to catch my mouth a little crooked as I kept tilting my head differently).

I'd like to finish it, but probably won't have time before next Tuesday. I tend not to paint in the evening after work (unless I'm working on a long-term painting) as there's never enough hours to really get a good painting session done and clean my brushes up before bed. So painting happens on my days off, and I've been recruited to photograph my roommates playing with swords on Sunday..
